Vili (or Vil)

Old Norse: Víli
Meaning: "Will"?

1. brother of Odin
2. a dwarf

1.
Vili (Vil or Hönir) and Ve (or Lothur) were the brothers of Odin and sons of Bor and Bestla. Odin, Ve and Vili killed the first giant and made out of his body the world:

"Out of Ymir's flesh | was fashioned the earth,
And the ocean out of his blood;
Of his bones the hills, | of his hair the trees,
Of his skull the heavens high."

(Grimnismol)

* The stones were made out of his teeth and such of his bones as were broken. Midgard was made out of his eyebrows.

Then they found two trees, an ash and an elm, and created out of them the first man, Askr ("Ash") and the first woman, Embla ("Elm").

"Soul they had not, | sense they had not,
Heat nor motion, | nor goodly hue;
Soul gave Othin, | sense gave Hönir,
Heat gave Lothur | and goodly hue."
(Völuspá)

If he was really the same god as "Hönir" he was sent to the Vanir (after the Aesir-Vanir-War).

It was said that Hönir survives Ragnarok and gets the gift of prophecy.

In the Lokasenna, Loki says that Frigg had an affair with Ve and Vili.

2.
Vili was one of the dwarfs listed in the Voluspo.
