Vidar was the son of Odin and the giantess Grid.
Vidar was a very powerful, but also friendly and quite god (the strongest, after Thor).
He was an Aesir and a god of nature and vengeance and simbolized the stillness and strength of nature.
Vithi or Vidi was the name of his realm.
"Filled with growing trees | and high-standing grass
Is Vithi, Vithar's land;
But there did the son | from his steed leap down,
When his father he fain would avenge."
(Grímnismál)
At Ragnarok, he'll revenge the death of his father, Odin.
He'll tear Fenrir's throat, or, according to other sources, Vidar killes the wolf with a sword.
