Ull

Ull, Ullr ("Glory", "Magnificence") or Holler was the god of the winter, of skiing, archery, of the hunt and of the death, it was told, that Holler was the one, who brought diseases.

Ull was the son of Sif and stepson of Thor, his father is unknown.

His home was Ydalir ("Yew-Dales") and was the second husband of Skadi.

As the god of winter and death, he had to spend a few months each year as Hel's lover.

Some say, that he replaced Odin every year in the winter.

Other names of Ullr:
- Holler ("Covered"? or "Gracious"?)
- Valder ("Ruler"?)

Maybe Vindsval ("The Wind-Cold") was his father.
Vafthruthnismál:
"Vindsval he was | who was winter's father,
And Svosuth summer begat"
