One of the serpents, that gnew on Yggdrasil's twigs was called Svafnir.

King Svafnir was the father of Sigrlin, the fairest maid (King Hjorvarth's wife) and grandfather of Helgi.

Later Helgi went to Svavaland, which was the home of Svafnir and Sigrlin to avange the dead of his mother's father (Svafnir) and slew King Hrothmar, who once burned Svafnir's realm and killed the king.
