Njoerd, Njord or Njörd ("Humid"?), a sea-god, was the opposite of the irrascible sea-god Aegir. He was a friendly god and simbolized the good weather.
His sister and first wife called Nerthus and simbolized the Earth.

Njörd, Freyr and Freyja were given to the Aesir after the Aesir-Vanir-War. At Ragnarok he'll return to his home.

It's not really clear if his two children, Freyja and Freyr, were the result of his first marriage, with his sister Nerthus, or of his second, with the giantess Skadi.

His home was Noatun ("Ship's Heaven"), in Asgard ear the sea.

His second marriage with the giantess Skadi failled becouse of the great opposites of the gods. First, they had a deal, they slept nine nights in the mountains and three in the sea, but finally the marriage was broken and Skadi went back to her home in the mountains.
