Nott ("The Night"), goddess and personification of the night, was the daughter of the giant Nörvi (Nor or Narfi).
Nott was ridin' in two days 'round the world, her son Dagr ("The Day") always behind her.
Her horse was called Hrimfaxi, which caused dew from the horse's bit.
Nott had three husbands:
The first was Naglfari, by whom she was the mother of Audr;
The second was Annar, whom she bore Jörd (with Onar, she was the mother of Fjörgyn, Onar = Annar, Fjörgyn = Jörd);
Nott's third husband was the elf (or dwarf) Delling, and by him she was the mother of the Day (Dagr).
"'Night' men call it, | 'Darkness' gods name it,
'The Hood' the holy ones high;
The giants 'The Lightless,' | the elves 'Sleep's joy"
The dwarfs 'The Weaver of Dreams."'
