Muspellheim

Muspellheim ("Home of Desolation ") was the home of the fire-giants, it was ruled and guarded by the first fire-giant, Surtr.

Muspellheim was the second world created out of the emptiness of Gunnungagap. It was placed at Gunnungagap's southern end and it was a world of heat and fire.

The primal cow Audhumla and the giant Ymir (or Aurgelmir) were created when the hot fire of Muspellheim spray to the Elivagar's glacier. The cow Audhumla licked the salty ice-blocks, till Buri came forth from the blocks.

The forest Myrkwood is a dark forest, bounding the fire-world, through which the fire-giants will ride at Ragnarok to come to the upper worlds.

Surtr and the fire-giants were enemies of the gods, at Ragnarok they'll come to Asgard and fight the Aesir.

Once Odin took the sparks, flyin' out of Muspellheim and created with them the stars.
