Hödr |
Hödr was the god of winter and darkness, he simbolized the dark side of his father Odin and Baldr his light side. Being anxious about the life of her son, Frigg made all gods, living being, plants and stones, vow to do him no harm (but forgot the mistletoe). Loki, who knew that, made an arrow with the branches of the mistletoe and gave it to Hödr, who then killed his brother (unknowingly). "How should one periphrase Hödr? Thus: by calling him the Blind God, Baldr's Slayer, Thrower of the Mistletoe, Son of Odin, Companion of Hel, Foe of Váli." Baldr's death was the beginning of the Fimbulvetr. Then Vali killed Hödr and avenged his brother's death.
