Hermod

Hermod the Bold, messenger of the gods, was Odin's and Frigg's son and brother of Baldr and Hödr.

Odin, once, gave him helm and mail-coat.

When Baldr was killed, Hermod went on Sleipnir's back to Helheim and asked for Baldr's life.
Hel gave her consent, the only condition was, that everything and everywhere had to cry for the god.

On his way to Hel, he passed the river Gjöll, where he met Modgudr, the guardian of the river's bridge. She said him that Baldr passed the way.

Hermod failled, because of one giantess called Thokk, that don't cryied. This giantess was Loki. Baldr gave him Odin's ring Draupnir and Nanna sent Frigg a linen smock and to Fulla a golden finger-ring.

This adventure was often called "Hermod's Hellride".
