Gunnlöd

The giantess Gunnlöd ("Gunnr" = battle, "Löd" = invitation) was the daughter of Suttung. Her father gave her the poetic mead, Odrörir, to protect it.

At Hnitbjörg, she promised Odin (Bolverk) three swallows of the mead, if he would sleep with her.

Odin tricked her and stole the Odrörir. After the nights with Odin, she became pregnant and gave birth to the god Bragi, the god poetry.
