Dwarves

Dvergr was the name of "Dwarves" in Norse Mythology.

The Dwarves were creatures, that lived under the earth in Nidavellir (or Svartalfheim). They were often confused with Svartalfr ("Black Elves") and Dokkalfr ("Dark Elves").

Dwarves were very talented smiths and sorcerers, they created the most powerful weapons of the gods (Mjöllnir, Gungnir etc.).

They were formed out of the Maggots, created when Ymir died. The gods gave them a human look and banished them into Nidavellir (or Swartalfheim).

The first dwarf was Motsognir, then came Durin.

- Andvari
- Dain
- Dvalin
- Nordri, Austri, Sudri & Vestri
- Nithi
- Nyi

Alfrothul ("Elf-Beam" = the sun) turned them into stone.
