Brimir

Old Norse: Brimir
Meaning: "The bloody moisture"

1. a giant and/or a hall
2. a sword

1.
The race of the dwarfs was made out of Brimir's blood and the legs of Blain.
Propably these two are names of Ymir.

In Okolnir ("The Not Cold") stood Brimir's beer-hall.

In the Sigrdrífumál Odin is mentioned as having Brimir's sword.

Poetic Edda:
- Völuspá
- Sigrdrífumál

The Prose and Poetic Edda made some confuson with the name "Brimir", in the Poetic Edda Brimir's the name of a giant who has a hall in Okolnir, but in the Prose Edda Brimir's the name of a hall "in" Okolnir. It's one of the dwellings that remained after Ragnarok.

Prose Edda: Gylfaginning LII

2.
Brimir = a sword?

Someone added in the Grimnismol stanza 44., after the fifth line: "Brimir of swords".
"The best of trees | must Yggdrasil be,
Skithblathnir best of boats;
Of all the gods | is Othin the greatest,
And Sleipnir the best of steeds;
Bifrost of bridges, | Bragi of skalds,
Hobrok of hawks, | and Garm of hounds.
