Aurboda

Old Norse: Aurboða
Meaning: "Gold Giver"

 

In the Poetic Edda, there were two characters with the name Aurboda:
1.
a giantess
2. Mengloth's handmaid


1.
Aurboda was a giantess, one of the Jötunn (or Jotun).

She was the wife of the mountain-giant Gymir and mother of Gerdr and Beli.

Sometimes she was said to be another name or form of Angrboda.


2.
Aurboda was one of Mengloth's handmaiden.
Hlif, Hlifthrasa, Thjothvara, Bjort, Blidur, Frith, Eir and Blid.
