Aslaug was the daughter of Brynhild and Sigurd (but only in the version, in which, Sigurd met Brynhild before he wooed her for Gunnar).
When Brynhild was goin' to become Gunnar's wife, she left her daughter in Heimir's charge.
To protect Aslaug, Heimir (he was Brynhild's fosterfather or brother-in-law) travelled as a poor harpplayer, conterning the girl in the harp. Once, he came to the house of Ake and Grima, where they stayed for a night. Ake believed that Heimir hides a treasure in his harp and killed him therefor while he was still sleeping. But Ake and Grima didn't found a treasure but a young girl, which they rised as their own child and called Kraka.
Later she became wife of Ragnar Lodbrok and bore him Ivar the Boneless, Björn Ironside, Hvitserk and Ragnvald.
