Alfs

Alfs or Alfr were the Elves known as Light Elves (Ljosalfr), they were beautiful light-creatures or nature-deitys (like Nymphs in greek myth).

Another name of Alfr is Rådande.

The meaning of Alfrothul (the sun) is "Elf-Beam" 'couse its rays were fatal to elves and dwarfs.

In the younger Edda, Snorri spoke about two groups of elves: the light and the dark elves (maybe the Dark Elves were Dwarves).

The light elves lived in Lichtalfheim (or Alfheim). Its ruler was Freyr and its guardian was the elf (or dwarf) Delling.

And the Black Elves (or Dwarves) lived under the earth in Swartalfheim.

A third race of Elves were the Dokkalfr ("Dark Elves").
